CONCEPT OF INTERCULTURALITY. THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF INTERCULTURAL EDUCATION
Program Overview
Interculturality refers to the recognition and respect of cultural diversity within society, promoting interaction and coexistence among people with different cultural, social, religious, and political backgrounds. Its emergence is closely linked to globalization and the growing recognition of minority rights, which have increased cultural exchanges and highlighted the need for more inclusive social frameworks.
In this context, educational systems have had to adapt to increasingly diverse societies. Intercultural education has developed as a response to this reality, seeking to promote equality, dialogue, respect, and cooperation among cultures. Unlike earlier monocultural or multicultural approaches, the intercultural perspective emphasizes interaction, mutual understanding, and the development of more inclusive and democratic societies.
