International Recognition of Degrees

Universidad Americana de Europa, UNADE, is a University that was born as a result of the internationalization of Grupo IOE’s education. Always with the aim of facilitating the international recognition of the degrees or credits of our University, wherever the student resides, at all times.

UNADE was born from the need to deliver high-level university education designed for company executives. In addition to executives, teachers and other people who hold positions of responsibility. Those who require practical, quality training. And that can also be taken in a way compatible with their work obligations. Flexible in terms of schedules and available time. While at the same time being highly productive, with a program for the recognition and transfer of credits.

All of the above leads us to the fact that the University, in its vocation to adapt to the needs of international students, places great importance on the recognition of degrees in the different countries from which the students come, in all those where there are Spanish speakers.

Taking into account the highest educational quality, our University bears in mind the following aspects, which facilitate the recognition or validation of the degree or credits:

1. Educational credits, recognition and the student’s effort recognized by the University

The credits of our programs reach the maximum legally permitted according to agreement 17/11/17 for the non-classroom-based training modality. Specifically, the duration of our studies and, for their recognition, will credit you with the following effort:

  • Bachelor’s degrees are carried out over 4 academic years, represented by 300 educational credits, and recognizing 4,800 hours of training. They are therefore studies equivalent, for recognition purposes, to other degrees or bachelor’s programs in your country.
  • The recognition of master’s degrees, of 2 academic years, consists of 92 credits, and 1,472 hours as the sum of teaching guidance and the student’s independent hours. Additionally, the research-focused workload, whose student effort time multiplies the value of the study hours, reaches a total of 2,944 hours.
  • Doctorates contain 205 credits over 3 years, 3,280 hours between the doctor’s guidance and individual hours. In addition to a certain extra effort in the thesis research for its recognition. The three-year duration is the most international reference value for this educational category to be recognized.

The student’s effort time is a determining factor in many countries to be able to carry out the recognition and validate the degree, making it equivalent in their country. For example, in Spain most of the Official Degrees at the postgraduate level, the master’s degrees, are almost always completed in a single year. These grant a value of about 1,500 hours of student effort. And up to a maximum of 1,800, through 60 European credits, an insufficient effort in some Spanish-speaking countries. This is the case of Colombia, with the new Higher Education Law of 2017. Since the student’s effort must be carried out over two years for it to be an equivalent study for recognition purposes.

2. The official status of our programs, recognized at origin

As it could not be otherwise, all UNADE programs that have the category of doctorates, master’s and bachelor’s degrees are official studies. Separately, the University delivers other programs classified as training courses, diplomas or master’s degrees that are not official. UNADE clearly and orderly states on its website, in each section, which studies are official. And, conversely, those of a lower category that are not. Different recognition or credit-transfer processes are carried out in each case.

All of these Official UNADE Studies have the corresponding Official Recognition of Validity (RVOE). If you wish, you can check it through the following link of the Ministry of Public Education:

https://www.sirvoes.sep.gob.mx/sirvoes/mvc/consultas

There you must use the search engine, entering in STATE: “Quintana Roo” and in MUNICIPALITY OR BOROUGH: “Benito Juárez” (where Cancún belongs and where one of our University’s campuses is located).

After the above, you must click on SEARCH. On page 3, Universidad Americana de Europa (campus) already appears. In addition, if you click on the University you will be able to view the complete list of all its official studies.

Knowing this, we must add that some official programs are published later on this page. So if you have doubts about a particular study, recognition or credits, you can request more information from one of the University’s advisors, who will be happy to assist you.

3. The research focus of the master’s degrees

Not in all Spanish-speaking countries do master’s degrees have a high research-oriented component. At many universities, not as much importance is given to the student, in addition to learning with a practical orientation, developing research skills.

In short, UNADE’s master’s programs are oriented toward a dual approach. The professional one on the one hand, and the research one on the other. Fundamentally because they are studied under an educational model in which students will not only be experts in the subject covered when they finish the master’s degree. But, at the same time, it introduces them to the world of research. With the aim that they be able to design, innovate and update techniques or tools in their work reality. Something that is required in certain countries for the study to be recognized. And which, for example, is not developed in due depth in Spanish master’s final projects (TFM).

UNADE’s master’s degree final projects (TFGM) demonstrate the student’s capacity for research. At our University, it is necessary for these to respect a certain model, indicated by the teacher. This is necessary in order to pass our studies and to obtain credits. And also so that the degree is backed by this demonstration of the student’s effort. Having the opportunity for it to be recognized.

4. Support for the recognition of degrees in your country

Perhaps as important as all of the above is the University’s service regarding the recognition and transfer of credits. So that the graduate does not feel abandoned from a day as important as the one on which the degree is delivered to them. Referring not only to membership in an exclusive group such as the University’s alumni. But to the help available at UNADE. Which will provide them with the extra documents that will be required of them for the recognition of the degree, the credits or the validation. The process may be different in each country where you wish to register it. In accordance with the different processes of recognition or equivalence of credits.

It is very likely that all the help and follow-up after the registration of your degree is a differentiating factor of our University. Absolutely oriented toward international students, with agreements for the recognition of credits and validations.

Recognition of Degrees in different countries

In another section of our website, we will give you more details about the recognition or validation of degrees or credits in the countries where UNADE is most represented. Such as in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Spain.

Although we will give you in advance some information on the recognition or validation of education degrees or postgraduate credits. Which may be of interest to you, in some of the countries from which the largest number of students come:

Recognition of Degrees in Ecuador

In August 2018, the complete Reform of the Organic Law of Higher Education (LOES) was published. This educational regulation addresses the issue of the recognition of foreign degrees in Ecuador. As a result, degrees on the SENESCYT list are no longer automatically recognized. Rather, in addition, those studies that are official in the country of origin and are also equivalent in Ecuador are also registrable. In any case, UNADE’s master’s degrees are registrable under the provisions of the LOES. Likewise, the doctorates are taught in a tutorial modality to comply with the country’s requirements.

Recognition of Degrees in Peru

Peru’s SUNEDU recognizes, through a list of countries that have a Cultural Reciprocity Agreement or Trade Agreement with Peru, the Recognition of Degrees and Titles. In accordance with the possible validation or equivalence of credits. Among which is Mexico, which is the country that issues your degree. UNADE’s degrees present no problems for being recognized in Peru.

Recognition of Degrees in Colombia

UNADE bears very much in mind the latest resolution of the Ministry of National Education (MEN), RESOLUTION No. 20797, dated OCT 9, 2017. Which refers to the recognition of foreign credits or degrees through their validation. Regulations that develop recognition through the criteria of precedent, quality or academic standards.

Recognition of Degrees in Spain

In Spain, the responsibility for the recognition or validation of degrees or credits falls on each of the country’s universities. So the procedure can be initiated at any of these. And in the event of a negative resolution, it can be restarted at any other. In Spain it is necessary for UNADE’s curriculum to match an equivalent Official Studies validation plan.
