Program Overview
International treaties are a primary written source of public international law and must be followed in good faith under the principle of pacta sunt servanda.
These treaties often introduce legal concepts that can later be incorporated into national legal systems.
Multilateral agreements are negotiated by specialised experts who consider the legal traditions of participating States.
This ensures that treaties can be effectively integrated into domestic legal frameworks.
In Mexico, once a treaty is accepted, it becomes part of the national legal order under the Constitution.
As a result, domestic laws must be interpreted in line with international obligations and supranational legal principles.
